Strengthening Students' Comprehension (4-9) Afternoon Workshop
The ultimate goal of any reading instruction is to create confident, fluent, independent students who understand what they read. Rather than just being able to decode words, students need to be able to comprehend text, to know what the text is saying. To achieve this, readers need to know how to use a range of strategies to enhance their understanding, acquire information and remember what they read. This workshop is designed to develop an understanding of these reading strategies and to identify ways to teach these complex processes to developing readers.
